GlobalReach Technology joins Wireless Broadband Alliance.

Working together to promote and deliver Carrier Wi-Fi and Next Generation Hotspot networks.

GlobalReach Technology, the Wi-Fi software innovation company today, announced that it has become a member of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the industry association focused on driving the next generation Wi-Fi experience. Becoming a member and working with the WBA is an important step in GlobalReach’s strategy to deliver cloud-based, carrier-grade Wi-Fi to carriers and enterprises, joining the efforts of a significant group dedicated to progressing the development of Carrier Wi-Fi throughout the world. GlobalReach joins at a pivotal time when Next Generation Hotspot (NGH) networks are now a commercial reality and operators are reaping the benefits of an improved carrier-grade of Wi-Fi.

Working with the WBA and its members, GlobalReach will engage in various WBA-led initiatives including the promotion of Global Wi-Fi Roaming, the Interoperability Compliance Program (ICP) and trials of the Next Generation Hotspot, all laying the groundwork to make Wi-Fi truly seamless, interoperable and secure.

Nigel Wesley CEO at GlobalReach Technology said: “It’s great to be joining the WBA at this important time for the industry. GlobalReach have been at the forefront of the implementation of large scale public Wi-Fi solutions including the use of Passpoint™ Hotspot 2.0 and it’s great to be joining forces with the community to help the wider promotion of the technology.”

Shrikant Shenwai, CEO of the WBA said: “The WBA brings together all parties from across the ecosystem, giving them the opportunity to work together to make Wi-Fi the best it can be. Our new members play a crucial role in ensuring that consumers connecting to a Wi-Fi network will be exposed to the best user experience possible, regardless of time or location.”

With a background in building managing and wholesaling networks on behalf of ISPs, MNOs and large enterprises, GlobalReach has developed Odyssys®, a packaged carrier-grade, cloud-based Wi-Fi software that can be tailored to meet the most demanding of specifications. The Odyssys platform has been designed to be used to power both private enterprise Wi-Fi, providing secure network access to staff and controlled access to public users. It provides a managed RADIUS / AAA and 802.1X access secure solution and is capable of integrating with other systems such as Google Apps and using SAML and OAuth technology. It has been built to power environments supporting millions of concurrent users where reliability is key and uses Passpoint™ Hotspot 2.0 to dramatically simplify and automate how users connect to and roam between Wi-Fi networks.

GlobalReach will be attending and presenting at the WBA’s fifth Wi-Fi Global Congress and 25th WBA Roundtable Conference at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco from 6th-10th October.
