GlobalReach delivers Next Generation Hotspot at Wi-Fi Global Congress.

WBA, Wi-Fi Alliance and partners demonstrate roaming with seamless and secure access.

The WBA has collaborated with Ruckus Wireless and GlobalReach Technology to host the live Next Generation Hotspot (NGH) network in the Palace Hotel and the Market Street area in the City, with Accuris Networks and BSG Wireless acting as the main hub providers. For the first time ever, the network will also include two outdoor locations in the city of San Francisco where users can experience the live roaming at popular tourist locations – a partnership with the City and Towerstream.

Operators involved in the demonstration include: AT&T, Bigglobe, Boingo, BT, Cable Labs, China Mobile, Fon, kt, Linktel, Meteor Network, mobily, NTT docomo, Orange, PCCW HKT, Portugal Telecom, Shaw, SK Telecom, Telkom Indonesia, Towerstream, True.

Devices which have the necessary Passpoint™ R2 capabilities required to join the NGH include the smartphones: Mediatek Smartphone, Qualcomm Smartphone, Broadcom Smartphone, Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S and Note - and the tablets and laptops: Intel Laptop, Apple iPad, and the Marvell Plug Computer.
